Religious leaders are persecuted when someone gets converted in North: Kerala Catholic priest slams
text_fieldsPalakkad/Kerala: Archbishop Joseph Pamplani of the Diocese of Thalassery in Kerala said that in most states in North India, religious leaders are imprisoned if someone converts to Christianity and courts there are condoning this injustice. He was inaugurating the 107th birth anniversary celebration and community conference of the Catholic Congress, Palakkad.
According to him, even the judgments by the courts are denying the Christian community the rights granted by the Constitution. India is a country that denies the rights of a Dalit just because they converted to Christianity, the priest slammed. This is only a denial in the name of religion, he added.
Pampalani then said that the Catholic Congress is not an organisation that speaks for a particular community. The struggles led by the organisation were not only for one community, but also, he said.
