Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police arrested actor Krishna on Thursday, charging him with the offence of drug abuse. It was only earlier this week that another Tamil actor, Srikanth, was arrested under the same charges, India Today reported.

The Chennai’s Nungabakkam Police also arrested alleged drug peddler Jesveer along with Krishna.

According to police, seven individuals have been taken into custody in relation to the drug abuse case, and they include one Prasad, who is a former functionary of the AIADMK party. The case started after all the detainees were involved in a pub brawl that happened in the Tamil Nadu capital.

Police informed that they recovered 0.5 grams of cocaine, 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.75 grams of MDMA, 2.4 grams of OG ganja and 30 grams of ganja from Jesveer, aka Kevin.

A police statement said that arrested actor Krishna purchased drugs from Kevin, consumed them and shared them with friends. He was also in contact with known drug peddlers through WhatsApp. Police add that the findings support scientific evidence, including money transactions.

They say that the probe into the case will go deeper, and there are chances that more members of the Tamil film industry can implicated.

Reports suggest that blood samples of Srikanth, who was arrested earlier in the same case, were collected and sent for testing, while more updates on Krishna’s arrest are awaited.

Krishna is best known for his films 'Kazhugu', 'Yaamirukka Bayamey', 'Pandigai', and 'Vizhithiru', India Today writes.
