Rani Mukerji joins Shah Rukh Khan in action-thriller 'King', set to play Suhana Khan’s mother
text_fieldsBollywood fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Rani Mukerji is set to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming action-thriller King, directed by Siddharth Anand.
The duo, known for their on-screen chemistry in iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, will share the screen once again after several years.
The film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, also features his daughter Suhana Khan alongside a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, and Arshad Warsi.
Adding to the buzz are reported appearances by Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt.
According to a source close to the production, Rani Mukerji will portray the role of Suhana Khan’s mother. “Her character plays a pivotal role in the narrative, serving as the emotional backbone and a catalyst for key events in the film,” the source revealed to Pinkvilla. The source added that Rani instantly agreed to join the project after hearing about her part, given her long-standing friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and trust in director Siddharth Anand’s vision.
Production is set to begin in Mumbai on May 20, with a second filming schedule planned in Europe. The movie is eyeing a theatrical release sometime between October and December 2026.
Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji is currently working on Mardaani 3, continuing her legacy of powerful roles in Hindi cinema.
