Tehran: A senior Iranian military officer has claimed that Pakistan will come to help his country if there is a nuclear attack from Israel.
General Mohsen Rezae’s remark comes amid increasing tension in the Middle East with Israel and Iran teetering on the brink of an all-out war.
Indicating the possibility of the conflict taking to wider areas, Rezae said that Pakistan has offered to attack Israel with nuclear bomb if the Jewish country resorts to nuclear attack on Iran.
Rezae, a member of Iran's National Security Council, said ‘Pakistan has assured us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, they will attack Israel with a nuclear bomb’.
At least 248 deaths have been reported so far—Iran 230 and Israel 18— after the conflicting parties targeted each other with a barrage of missiles over the last two days.
Pakistan pulling itself into the war could mean worsening the volatile situation, making way for an all-out war.
Among nine countries currently possessing nuclear weapons are Israel and Pakistan, according to ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons).
Rezae said that Pakistan has vowed to ‘stand behind Iran’ alongside a call for Muslim world to unite.
It is reported that both countries involved in a missile exchange in early 2024.
Rezae also claimed that Tehran has hidden capabilities yet to be revealed to the world.
Pakistan has not yet made comments on its reported offer of using nuclear weapons against Israel.
However, Pakistan has backed Iran in its fight against Israel.
In the midst of the spiraling crisis, US president Trump said that the US is trying to work out a deal between Iran and Israel.
However earlier, Trump warned Iran if it attacks the US, ‘the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.’
